The Thomas S. Wootton JV baseball team defeated a well-coached and talented Richard Montgomery Rockets team by a score of 5 – 0 this afternoon. The Patriots pitchers combined for the second straight one hit shutout over their opponents. Liam Miller started on the bump for the Patriots and pitched 5 dominating innings of no hit baseball, striking out 5, and walking zero. Brady Weiss finished the game off with two strong innings giving up the lone Rocket hit, striking out two, and walking none. The Patriots collected ten hits and stole four bases. Ryan Binder, Weiss, James Walsh, and Brian Garmer each managed two hit games for the team. One of these hits by Brian Garmer started the fourth inning off, which turned out to be the lone inning of scoring. This hit was followed by a stolen base by Garmer and a bunt base hit by Ryan Binder. This was followed by an error, a few key hits, another sacrifice bunt, and at the end of the inning the Patriots had a five run lead. This is all the team needed behind the strong pitching of Miller and Weiss. The Patriots look to keep their winning ways going tomorrow afternoon as the hit the road again to play the Magruder Colonels at 3:45pm.
