The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity Baseball Team won this afternoon against Quince Orchard to lock up their first 10 win season in years, by a score of 9 to 4. The Patriots got things started in the first inning off of QO’s number one pitcher, when Darren Chang grounded out, scoring one run. This run held up for the Patriots into the bottom of third. At this time QO scored two runs and looked to score more, but the Patriots bore down and were able to work out of the inning. The Patriots scored one run in the top of the fourth when Nathan Bowman singled on a 2-1 count, scoring the sole run that half inning. Quince Orchard answered back quickly in the bottom half of the inning with a double on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and taking the lead.The Patriots stole the lead late and were able to close the door against QO with a solid team effort. The game was tied at three with the Patriots batting in the top of the fifth when Darren Chang singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. These two runs gave the Patriots the lead for good and they were able to produce a few more runs in the seventh inning to pull away. Jacob Glazier was on the mound for the Patriots. He went all seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out two. The Patriots had eight hits in the game. Chang, Bowman, and Miller Romm each managed two hits to lead Patriots. The Patriots also continued to dominate the base paths by stealing four bases during the game. This game was the conclusion to the Patriots most successful JV baseball season in years and the Patriots will look to continue this impressive run in the future.
