The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity baseball team won an extra inning, come from behind game by a score of 4 to 3 against a tough Quince Orchard team. The game was tied at three with the Patriots batting in the bottom of the eighth when Miller Romm got on base with a solid single to left field. He then quickly stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. All of this was happening as Andrew Misovec had a great at bat and worked the count until he was able to get a pitch he could handle and hit a hard line drive over a drawn in infield to score Romm for third base. The Patriots earned the victory despite allowing Quince Orchard to score three runs in the fifth inning. This Quince Orchard big inning was driven by a walk and an error. The Patriots responded quickly and scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning and evened things up at three in the bottom of the sixth inning on an error that allowed the tying run to push across the plate.
Jacob Glazier got the start and earned the win for Patriots and lasted all eight innings, allowing nine hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one. The Patriots racked up eight hits. Jacob Glazier, Andrew Misovec, and Miller Romm each racked up multiple hits for the Patriots. Romm, Misovec, and Glazier all had two hits to lead the team. The Patriots also put pressure on Quince Orchard with five stolen bases; led by the three stolen bases by Miller Romm, including the one in extra innings to get in scoring position and set the stage for the game ending heroics. The Patriots are on a roll and look to continue their winning ways on Monday at home against Gaithersburg at 3:45pm.
