The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity baseball team defeated a scrappy Magruder Colonels team by a score of 19-13 on Tuesday. The Patriots collected 11 hits and stole nine bases in the game. The team got things started in the first inning when Brady Weiss drove in one when he singled. This offensive onslaught continued in the second and fourth inning when the team scored 3 runs in each inning just like they did in the first. In the fifth, the Patriots managed to score 10 runs and blew the game wide open. The Patriots hitters contributing to the big inning included Logan Judelsohn, Devon Graham, Ryan Binder, Liam Miller, Dason Miller, and Austin Betz, all driving in runs in the frame. Magruder responded with a flurry of 13 runs in the bottom half of the inning, but the Patriots lead proved to be insurmountable and the team eventually closed out the game. Jackson Brunner was credited with the victory for the Patriots. He pitched a strong three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking one. Larry Bu, George Misovec, and Brian Garmer all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, driving their team towards the victory. The Patriots look to keep their winning ways going tomorrow when they travel on the road to play at Quince Orchard tomorrow at 3:45pm.
