The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity baseball team defeated Magruder High School today by a score of 15-3 thanks to a strong start in the first inning. The Patriots scored early and often and was highlighted by a single by Darren Chang, a single by Freddie Rodgers, a single by Max Levine, a double by George Misovec, a walk by Miller Romm, and a double by Andrew Misovec in the first inning. The Patriots all but secured the victory in the inning when they scored nine runs in the frame. The offensive onslaught by the Patriots that inning was led by Chang, Rodgers, Levine, G. Misovec, Romm, and A. Misovec, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Miller Romm started things off on the hill for the Patriots allowing four hits and three runs over two and a third innings while striking out three and surrendering one walk. Kevin Friedman came in to replace Romm and dominated the last two and two-thirds innings allowing no hits, no walks, and striking out two to close the door on Magruder. Overall, the Patriots played their best game of the season and tallied ten hits. Brett Olsen and Freddie Rodgers all managed two hits each to lead the Patriots. Max Levine led the Patriots with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. The Patriots look to continue their winning ways and will need to continue to play solid defensive baseball and get timely hits as they play Quince Orchard tomorrow at home at 10 am.
