The Junior Varsity Thomas S. Wootton Patriots baseball team increased their winning streak to 5 today with a dominating 15 to 2 win over Gaithersburg. Miller Romm led the team with four hits, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored; all while earning the win on the mound. Romm doubled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth. He also pitched 3 and one-third innings allowing one run, striking out three, and walking one. The game was finished with Kevin Friedman on the hill and he pitched the final one and two-thirds inning, striking out 4, allowing two hits, and surrendering 1 run. The Patriots scored early and often, but secured the victory in the middle innings thanks to eight runs in the third inning. This offensive onslaught came from singles by Freddie Rodgers, Max Levine, George Misovec, Romm, and Darren Chang. The inning also contained doubles by Hank Breen and Andrew Misovec. The Patriots got things moving in the first inning, when Misovec doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Overall, the Patriots racked up 18 hits. Romm, Andrew Misovec, Levine, Breen, George Misovec, and Rodgers each collected multiple hit games. The Patriots also continue to tear up the base paths with a total of nine stolen bases. Freddie Rodgers had two and Romm led the way with four. The Patriots look to continue their winning ways tomorrow at a very good Northwest team at 3:45pm.
