The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity Baseball team defeated the Blair Blazers 1-0 on Friday, April 12, as Liam Miller and Brady Weiss combined to throw a shutout.
The pitching was strong on both sides as Miller pitched the Patriots JV to victory. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out six. Weiss threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Weiss recorded the last six outs to earn the save. On the offensive side, Jack Mehler let the Patriots with two hits in three at bats. The Patriots were able to score their only, and eventual, game winning run in the 5th inning when Rob Carpenter was hit by a pitch. He advanced to third on an error and scored on a ground ball by Ryan Binder. This was all the Patriots needed to advance their record to 8 and 1 on the season.
