The Thomas S. Wootton Junior Varsity baseball team won their eighth game of the season today by beating Blair by a score of 11 to 1 today at McCracken Field. The game was tied at one with the Patriots batting in the bottom of the fourth inning when Will Karis doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs. This opened the flood gates and the Patriots scored seven runs in the next inning, and ended the game in the sixth inning by pushing across one run following a line drive base hit by Mica Rabin. The Patriots were led by Karis who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Karis singled in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth. The Patriots scored their first run in the first inning when Karis singled on a 2-2 count, scoring the run. Blair quickly knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning on a sac fly. The Patriots pulled away for good with the two runs in the fourth inning. But, the Patriots put the game out of reach when they scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Darren Chang, Karis, and Freddie Rodgers all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. The Patriots collected 13 hits in all throughout the game. Karis, Max Levine, and Chang all had multiple hits for the team. Karis went 4-for-4 with 5 runs batted in at the plate to lead Wootton Patriots in hits. This strong performance by the Patriot’s offense was supplemented by Karis pitching a complete game, allowing five hits and one run over the six innings, while striking out two Blair Blazers.
The Patriot look to continue their strong season on Thursday when they will play to win at Whitman at 3:45pm and hope to push their overall record to 9 and 2.
