Game Recap

The squad posted its second shutout of the young season and scored in four different manners to improve to 2-1. Behind the saying “The best defense is a good offence,” the Lady Patriots held Clarksburg shotless in the first half while racking up plenty of chances of their own. Co-Captain Sarah Dellapa opening the scoring with a blast just within 40 yards. Later in the half, Lexie Zinselmeier pounced on a rebound shot from co-captain Ashley Pitt; the first-half scoring ended with Kalise Gilbert putting a corner kick from Dellapa into the back of the net. The only second half goal came from co-captain Bella Lazzaro slotting a lovely shot near post after a run from midfield. The defense held the Coyotes to two shots on goal total through either quick recovery of any mistakes or by the sure hands of second half keeper Mary Quackenbush. First half keeper Gabi Heitmann played more of a sweeper role.
Although there were a few stumbles in the back line and many goals that went begging, the ladies hope to ride their effort into Monday when they travel to Gaithersburg to face the Trojans at 5:15.
